A bécsi barokk fotelt 2000 februárjában vásároltam egy idős nénitől egy garnitúra részeként. A dohányzógarnitúra négy részből áll: két darab női fotel, egy darab ülőke, egy darab kerek barokk dohányzóasztal. A fotelról az ismert bontószerszámokkal fejtettük le a párnázatokat a hagyományos kárpitozási folyamat megfordításaként: bevonat, felsőpárnázat, alappárnázat, rugózat, tartószerkezet eltávolítása. A lebontás folyamán nagy figyelmet fordítottunk arra, hogy a faszerkezetek ne sérüljenek, valamint tapasztalatot gyűjtöttünk arról, hogy milyen technológiai megoldásokat alkalmaztak a legutolsó helyreállításkor.

A kárpitozás eltávolítása után egyértelművé vált, hogy mindössze a kétkúpos bútorrugókat lehet újrahasznosítani a helyreállításban. A kárpitozás lefejtése után bizonyosságot nyert az is, hogy a fotel faszerkezetének látható és nem látható részei is javítást, pótlást igényelnek.
